Third Age Learning Guelph (TALG) provides a friendly and welcoming learning environment. As such, we ask all participants to be respectful of one another and our differences. We fully understand that disagreement may occur during the discussion of certain topics, but a variety of opinions is a normal part of the learning experience.
TALG does not tolerate any behavior that is defamatory, hateful, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, sexist, vulgar, obscene, threatening, insulting, offensive, and/or abusive. Those engaging in such behaviour will be prohibited from attending further lectures.
Any concerns or complaints arising from lectures should be addressed to TALG directly (not to the lecturer) at info@talg.ca.
These are the documents by which TALG conducts its affairs:
Occasionally, unforeseen circumstances may require a change of lecturer, a lecture to be rescheduled, or the cancellation of a lecture due to inclement weather or a major technological failure. Advance notice will be given by way of email and/or this website. No refunds will be made in such circumstances.
For legal reasons related to copyright and intellectual property issues, TALG does not provide recordings of lectures for viewing after the scheduled lecture time. Similarly, we do not post lecture content (notes, slides or powerpoint presentations) on our website. If a speaker chooses to share lecture material on their personal/institutional website, we will provide the link to the relevant website on our Lectures page, under the description of their specific lecture. This is where we also post a speaker's email address for follow-up questions or requests for information, if given permission to do so. Emails are not provided for critical commentary on lectures; as mentioned above, concerns or complaints arising from lectures should be addressed to TALG directly at info@talg.ca.
You may attend lectures in person (at Harcourt United Church), or watch from home via livestream on Harcourt’s YouTube Channel. A link will be sent to all registrants via email before each lecture. Clicking on this link will take you directly to the livestream of the lecture. Please note livestreamed lectures must be watched at their regularly scheduled time; they are not kept online for viewing at later times or dates.
To access the CHAT function (for technical help and questions to the lecturer), you must follow a simple login procedure. If you already have a gmail/Google account, this will happen automatically. We highly recommend you refer to our Information Sheet prior to your first lecture to ensure you have the necessary setup, and to avoid any confusion.
Contact info@talg.ca at any time if you have questions or technical issues.
TALG uses the services of PayPal in order to facilitate payment by credit card, and to ensure the technical, fraud prevention and banking infrastructure required for safe, secure online payments. TALG does not receive or record your credit card information.
Please note: You do not need a personal PayPal account to use this system; you will be given options to use a PayPal account or purchase as a guest.
PayPal will email you a receipt after your registration is completed; this is your confirmation of registration and payment.
Dates for each registration period (opening and closing) are announced on this website and via email; late registrations are not accepted. Help is available (via email or phone to TALG) for anyone having difficulty with the registration process.
The registration and payment process is online, through our website. Major credit cards may be used, and financial transactions are handled in a safe and secure manner.
A registration is complete and confirmed (via an emailed receipt), once payment is received. There will be no refund, should a registrant subsequently cancel.
If our maximum capacity for registrations is reached before the planned closing date, an announcement that registration is closed will be posted on our website and sent via email. No waiting list will be maintained.
